CLASSIFICATION OF GOODS AND SERVICES FOR REGISTERING TRADEMARKS

The classification of registered trademarks is based on the International Classification of Trademarks (Nice Classification Board), which basically is applied all over the world.

All goods and services for registering trademarks are only 45 classes, which include 34 classes for goods and 11 classes for services.

Examples: cosmetics belong to Class 3; pharmaceutical products belong to Class 5; Radiators [heating] belong to Class 11;….

In Vietnam, the mark registration fee is calculated based on the number of classes, number of goods or services in each class. Therefore, the more classes of goods and services that applicant register, the higher the registration fee will be.
